Gingerbread House Party

The great gingerbread house decorating party occurred on Saturday the 12th in Bel's classroom. Perfect setup for us. I made the gluten free gingerbread walls and roof panels for the houses the week prior (the house smelled amazing). Didn't leave enough time for that but we did our best. Mom and Bel were amazing at helping me put them together and fix all the sagging sides (bread was still too soft) with royal icing and just making them look pulled together. Actually, because of the dimensions they reminded me of outhouses so many of the window panes I cut into the shape of half moons and then the sagging walls & roofs actually went along with the theme :)

Our guests came in waves which was perfect for controlling the decorating chaos. Bruce, Juney, Kaiya and their friends D and W were the first wave.

I don't know what they were all looking at. Maybe wondering who was going to get the last bag of icing.

Making more icing. Kaiya and Gillian retire from decorating ... actually so had Bruce and Juney at this point. Only their more dedicated friends were still patiently gluing away.

Bruce peeking around the corner at his and Kaiya's finished houses. Bruce's is the one with the mound of gummi worms on top. Kind of like the movie "Tremors."

Second wave of decorators were friends A and baby sister G.

Finally, our third wave ... Supergirl and Supermom. Alas, Superboy was home with a nasty cold so we sent his blank house, icing, and decorations home for him to complete when he was feeling up for it.
