Decorating the tree

The children were completely into decorating the tree. Thankfully it was a small tree with the lights already on so Bel and I left the ordeal with our minds still intact. Actually both kids did really well and Bruce was so excited to be up high putting the top ornaments on.

We also found a spot for their gingerbread houses next to Father Christmas.

Bruce was very insistent that we needed more ornaments for the tree so the next morning we whipped up some salt dough to make new ornaments. BTW, if making gluten free ornaments don't use rice flour, just go straight for the cornstarch or tapioca flour. The first batch of dough went into the compost bucket. After the ornaments had baked and cooled the kids did a lovely job of painting their ornaments in the abstract art tradition

Bruce also made some lego "satellites" to decorate the base of the tree ... because the branches couldn't support their weight.
