Boxes

Make-up Mayhem & other antics

Juniper loves make-up. Thankfully I have very little of the stuff & Gillian has a lot soooo Juniper sneaks into her room (even wrestling a living room child chair in there) to purloin the tools of beauty. Oddly enough this time she chose the green undercover make-up :)

They're still working on their hide-n-seek skills but I was actually impressed that I couldn't see Bruce until he realized I had a camera out.

Bruce reading to Juniper. Actually, he tolerates her sitting next to him while he looks at a book he is interested in. As long as there isn't too much interference it goes well. It's a start!

Chickens

In May we got 25 or so chicks (Ancona, Leghorn, Cuckoo Maran, & a surprise). Juniper was awake to help get them settled in the starter pen but Bruce slept through it all. Later he became very adept at helping to prep their warm mash. Both kids are surprisingly gentle. The chicks are actually quite big now and some of the roosters are even trying to cockledoodledoo in their adolescent voices :) The chicks are now outside in 2 pens and they adore the greens, leftovers, & garden grubs the kids throw in.

Dancing, Naming, & Mapping

Can't hear the music over the people but they're dancing to the the Folsom Jail Blues by Johnny Cash.

Fashionista & other errata

Juniper had quite a bit of fun opening her birthday clothes from Grandma & Grandpa. She was even already prepped to try them on. What 2 year old loves to try on clothes? Mine sure does. J wore the pretty little pink plaid dress to Bel's MA graduation ceremony that night.

Gillian made Juniper a little frock with matching hat & purse from a petticoat she'd worn while doing historical reenactment at Mackinac Island "way back" in the 90s. While admiring J I told the kids that Nonnie would just die when she saw the outfit. When my mom came into the house Bruce ran up to her, pointed his finger, & sternly told her she would not die :)

Speaking of "to die for" ... B has made comments like that before. Gillian told B we were going to dye my hair. Bruce was very quiet for awhile and then said he didn't want mommy to be a skeleton. It actually took us about 10 minutes to figure out what he was talking about :)

Note how B & J prefer to spend graduation ceremonies. Poor J hasn't been able to stay awake during a single one. I tried very hard to get a pict of both kids together in their nice clothes. Sort of succeeded. Bruce even held her hand for a split second. Actually he's become very good at holding his sister's hand when I tell him to like when we're walking in the park or crossing the parking lot.

Bruce in position to advidly stare at a butterfly fanning its wings in the butterfly house at the BioPark. Tried for a pict of both kids watching but as soon as J saw the camera she got up to vamp and ruined the cute shot:)

J & Daddy sharing a little bottle time on the coach.

I got a spinning wheel for Mother's Day & I took a spinning class. I've made a few bobbins & started making an apprentice afghan. My yarn is really inconsistent but I am enjoying the process & the yarn quality is improving. The picts below are my very first skein of Navajo 3 ply. I plyed it on my wheel although I'm curious to see how well I can Navajo ply (uses a single bobbin of yarn rather than 2 or 3 bobbins) on the drop spindle.
